Art lovers who want to truly dive into the local and regional Cape Fear arts scene will want to make a stop at the ACES Gallery. Orchestrated and run by the Arts Council of Wilmington and New Hanover County, this homegrown gallery supports and showcases artists from all across the area to the delight of coastal art fans everywhere.
ACES Gallery is centrally located in the heart of the Downtown area, and has a locale along Front Street which is easy to reach for anyone staying close to the Cape Fear Riverfront. Within the site, patrons will find 400+ square feet of storefront space that’s dedicated for local artists, and every month the gallery presents a new exhibit on an up-and-coming or acclaimed artist within its walls. Known as the “Fourth Friday Gallery Nights,” during these events, patrons will be introduced to the eye-catching works of a familiar or brand new artist, and recent celebrated artists at the gallery have included painters and mixed media artists, sculptors, potters, and everything in between. With a worthy goal of celebrating the arts scene in Wilmington and beyond, ACES Gallery and the Arts Council of Wilmington and New Hanover County are taking the local arts scene to new heights.

The small but well-stocked Wrightsville Beach Museum of History is a charming little attraction that may not take very long to explore, but nevertheless presents a complete and fascinating portrait of this surprisingly long-standing beach town.
Enjoy a freshwater environment just a block or so away from the beach with a visit to Carolina Beach Lake Park. This public park is centered on the 11-acre freshwater lake, which was noted in the Guinness Book of World Records as being the closest freshwater lake to a major body of saltwater. This unusual feat has produced a sunny and surprising environment that’s perfect for off-the-beach relaxation and entertainment.
