Katfish Kayak And Fishing Adventures have a simple motto: If you don’t want someone to bring the fish to you, let them take you to the fish. They offer traditional fishing charters but also provide a mothership for Kayak fishermen. They can take you to those places you always wanted to fish which are just too far to paddle to.
Captain Phillip Loughlin welcomes you aboard his 23’ Parker boat. This cuddy cabin is powered by a 300 HP Yamaha engine that can reach a maximum speed of 35 knots. This means you will reach your fishing spots very fast and save traveling time. If you choose to fish from the boat, the crew can accommodate up to 4 guests. However, if you want to go kayak fishing, there’s enough room for 3 anglers.
When it comes to kayak fishing trips, note that this charter offers only mothership service but not the kayaks. You need to bring your own kayak, board the mothership with it, and let the crew take you where you want to go. As kayak trips are not guided, you need to be an experienced kayak angler, able to handle your boat and your gear in open-water conditions.
The boat typically leaves from the NC Wildlife Boat Ramp in Hampstead. However, the crew can pick you up from nearby waterfront locations. Depending on the season and which fishing grounds you choose, your main targets will be King Mackerel, Redfish, Flounder, Cobia, Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackerel, and Mahi Mahi.
Captain Philip will prepare your rods, reels, lures, and live bait (when available). Make sure to purchase your fishing license before the trip and bring food and drinks you like. Also, if you’re going on a kayak trip, you’ll need to bring your own fishing equipment.
The best solution would be to get in touch with the captain before the trip and check what you need to bring.
Save your paddling energy for fishing and finally reach those fishing spots that were always too far for the kayak! Katfish Kayak And Fishing Adventures can customize each trip, you only need to say when.
