Tricks and tips for getting the best Wilmington, NC rental experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summertime is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To get the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Wilmington, NC restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and choosing a perfect Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 278 W 1ST - Chase the Dream II has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC destination you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
