Getting the best Wilmington, NC rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing and booking the rightrental home:

  • First, have your family agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beach Views and Private Pool Exceptionally well Equipped for Family Fun has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
