Strategies to get the optimal Wilmington, NC rental experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beachside Charm! Heated Pool, Spa & 3-Min Walk to Shore has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
