Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To get the best value, change your family's Wilmington, NC vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing and booking the bestrental home:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Canal\/w dock, pool, ocean view, 1 block from beach & EV charger has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
