Getting the best rental experience:

When to visit Wilmington & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Book your vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the best rental:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Coast Away Cottage. 1-story home - NO PET FEES!!!! 10 minutes from the Beach!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
