Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Wilmington, NC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Coastal Beach Retreat w\/Pool, Tiki Bar & Ocean Views - Access to Resort @ OIB has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your group.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
