Tricks and tips for getting the best Sunset Beach rental experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Colony II at Oyster Bay, 3BR\/2BA,1st floor, Labor day open #125 p night has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC beach you are crazy about, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
