Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Wilmington, NC rental experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Continental Motel - studio with kitchenette close to beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
