Rental property booking tips:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Wilmington, NC attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best vacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Continental Motel - well-maintained, pet friendly, studio room close to the beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC attraction you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
