Tips and Tricks to get the best Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your Wilmington, NC vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best vacation home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Continental Motel - well-maintained, pet friendly, studio room close to the beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
