Savor a few calming days, weeks, or more!

Our home is an 1,100 square foot residence located on the mainland in Shoreline Woods, a peaceful, peaceful neighborhood with great oak trees and a winding waterway that runs throughout the area. It is a great place to walk or bicycle ride, especially in the early mornings and evenings. We offer a comfortable two-bedroom, two-bath home, surrounded by trees and handsome landscaping. The home is 1.8 miles from Sunset Beach.

The home is completely supplied with everything needed to feel at home. To keep costs to you down however, we do not have linen or cleaning services, so we request you leave the property ready for the next guest. The kitchen is entirely outfitted, and we do provide bath towels, beach towels and bed linens, but you must launder all prior to your departure. You may opt to bring your own linens as this saves time upon departure. Guests are asked to clean the home so it is ready for the next guest. This may not be appealing for folks wanting to stay for 2-3 nights as cleaning does take time!

This is a family owned second home that we would savor sharing with you! (We are not affiliated with any rental agency other than Vacation Rental By Owner.) This impressive brick home features splendid landscaping and natural garden areas, and is located on a peaceful corner lot with partial vistas of the intracoastal waterway! This home is in a great neighborhood location with a short drive to the Beach! Our 2-bedroom home sleeps four (2 couples, or family of 4) comfortably. (Please, no more than 4 human guests!)
(We block out one day between guests, and are continuing with the cleaning requirements we began when Covid-19 started.)

Sunset Beach is a modest, ocean-side town on the southernmost tip of NC, partially on the mainland and part on the barrier island. Until a few years ago, this island was accessible only by a one-lane barge bridge, but a causeway has now replaced this resulting in easier access. The old barge bridge is now a museum beneath the causeway.

If you are seeking a peaceful, relaxing place to visit, Sunset Beach is the spot, having one of North Carolina’s most handsome and well-preserved beaches! The barrier island is both a turtle sanctuary for the endangered loggerhead turtles, and Bird Island is a protected part of the North Carolina Coastal Reserve, including nearly 1,500 acres of marsh, intertidal flats and, of course, the Atlantic Ocean beach! Visit the Kindred Spirit Mailbox while you are there!

From the 40th Street boardwalk, it is a pretty 2-mile walk to the Little River Inlet in South Carolina. Whether walking, running or cycling, beach-goers may see many species of shoreline plant and animal life and seashells. And if you like seclusion, it is largely deserted during the winter months.

Accommodations include -- in the master bedroom, a bay window with a double (full-sized) bed, ceiling fan and private bath; the second bedroom has a queen-sized bed, ceiling fan, and access to the main bath which contains a washing machine and dryer. The living area has a new couch, adore seat, covered leather recliner, a dining table with 4 chairs, ceiling fan and vistas of intracoastal canal from the front windows and open porch off the living room. There is a flat-screen intelligent TV in the living area. (For those with modest kids, we do have a glass dining table and a glass coffee table.) We have cable TV and Wi-Fi. The kitchen has a skylight, and a modest bay window over the sink. In the fall through spring (outside temperature permitting), you can relax on the huge, screened-in porch, complete with couch, tables, chairs, light and ceiling fan. The porch has a vinyl window system, each window with 4 movable vinyl panels, accepting you to create your own indoor-outdoor ambiance! There is a single carport located away from the home that contains a grille. The garage has beach umbrellas, coolers, beach chairs, and a couple of body boards for use at the beach. There are also 2 bicycles, a 10-speed and an adult trike, but these are for use in the neighborhood only. There are bicycle units (Julies Units) for the beach on the island. You will need to provide your own helmets.

House-trained family pets are welcome, but we would like to know if you plan to bring your fur infant, as we have an additional pet addendum to be filled out. An additional, returnable pet fee will be charged ($350), which I will refund supplied there are no pet damages.

This is a non-smoking home, inside and out!

Guests must be over 25 years old to rent!

To gain access to the beach, there is complimentary parking on Main Street with beach boardwalk access each block. There is also a complimentary city parking lot close to the pier, but the pier charges to use their lot. It is permissible to parallel park on North Shore Drive as well.

Guests may not come into our home the same day another guest leaves; we are require 24 hours between guests.

The grocery store is about 1 mile away from the home.

Guests are required to return a signed rental agreement (and pet addendum if a pet is brought) prior to entry.

Vacation rental home tips:

Find your best deal:

  • Summertime is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserve your Wilmington, NC rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Cozy, Quiet, 1.8 Miles From Sunset Beach! WiFi, Cable, Pets OK! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
