How to find the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Entire two story home in Wilmington North Carolina has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
