Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Find your best deal:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your family's Wilmington, NC vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Experience coastal living at 'Hangin' At Holden', a spacious 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom retreat has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
