Rental property booking tips:

When to book a Wilmington, NC rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Holden Beach. To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Lovely Beachfront Family Duplex w\/Free WiFi, Private WD, Central AC, Patio, Deck has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
