Ocean Isle Beach rental home tips:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • To get the largest rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental:

  • First, have your family decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Luxury Canal Home, Gorgeous views short walk to beach! 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
