Booking the best vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in Sunset Beach. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Wilmington, NC attractions and restaurants.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the perfect vacation home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. My Happy Place, Golf and Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
