Our top Rental home tips:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Booking your Wilmington, NC vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental in Oak Island:

  • Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Newer Home w\/ 2 Primary King Bed Suites and 4 Balconies! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
