Tricks and tips to get the best Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book the best Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. New! Oceanfront Beach Bungalow has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
