Our top Wilmington, NC rental property booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your family select trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. INCREDIBLE LOCATION. Beach Retreat. Ocean View. Pet Friendly. Clean & Comfy. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
