Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Choosing the perfect vacation rental in Holden Beach:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront 4-8 Bedroom Duplex (\"Sunset\" - Bottom) has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC beach you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

During your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
