Our top Wilmington, NC rental home booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best rental home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront 4-8 Bedroom Duplex (\"Sunset\" - Bottom) has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
