Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Wilmington, NC rental experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Book your Wilmington, NC rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. \"Carolina Calm\" Unit 2: Your Ultimate Oceanfront Escape with Pool and Elevator has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
