Tips to get the best rental home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Wilmington, NC area. To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose your prefect Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • Choose your vacation dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. PalmTreeHut has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
