Tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in Oak Island. To book the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Wilmington, NC attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Pappy's Place: Spacious, Modern Vacation Rental with Pool and Elevator has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
