How to book the best rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, change your family's Wilmington, NC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it.
