Tips for getting the best Wilmington, NC rental experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Peach Pit: Dog-friendly with Game Room and Fenced Yard has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
