Oak Island rental home booking tips and tricks:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer is high season in Oak Island. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the best vacation home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Pristine-5 BR\/3.5 Bath-Oceanfront Home-Gorgeous Views \/ Sleeps 10 has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If there's a particular Wilmington, NC beach you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
