"Modest Pleasures" on Oak Island, NC

As you approach “Modest Pleasures”, the first thing that will excite you is the full wraparound porch. Enter from the ocean side and imagine yourself sitting at the kitchen table for breakfast, gazing out at the vast Atlantic. This cozy bungalow has an amply outfitted kitchen to prepare meals from breakfast to dinner. On the deck, you can savor dinner while feeling the ocean breeze. Two comfortable chairs and a side table are ideal for discussing the day's finds & planning out the next day.

If you’re a fisherman (or visited one of numerous local fresh seafood markets), you will adore to prepare your meal on the charcoal grille downstairs. While you’re waiting for your dinner to finish, hang out on the retro swings, and peek over the dunes at the pelicans as they fly over the ocean searching for their dinner.

Head inside on cooler evenings to work a puzzle, play a board game or a round of poker, watch one of numerous movies supplied in the drawer or stream your favorite show on the intelligent tv. With a simple flick of the switch, cozy up with one of the various books or magazines in the warmth of an instant fireplace.

Both bedrooms have full-size beds and provide the added privacy and convenience of exiting through sliding glass doors onto the wraparound porch. One bedroom has a full view of the ocean and the other features an illuminating blue neon wave that is as alluring as looking at the crashing waves on the other side. Open the doors and breathe in the salt air. Nap listening to the seagulls, waves and the distant gleeful delights of kids building sandcastles. Dream about the day you spent with your toes in the sand sitting in one of the included beach chairs. Did you play any of the yard games? Giant Jenga, corn hole and yard-sized Connect Four are located in the utility room downstairs. Wash off the sand & salt using the outdoor shower on the deck walkway before heading in for a snack. Full-sized washer & dryer will get your bathing suits & towels ready for fun the next day.

The beach awaits you at the end of the short walkway & one of the many “Modest Pleasures“ that come with booking this beachfront bungalow is that you don’t have to find parking at a beach access because you have your very own!

What are you waiting for?! Hurry and book your stay now! We are excited to host you and your family's next vacation! Just don't forget to bring your flip flops, and leave your worries behind while you soak in the salty air breeze and handsome Oak Island sun! Get ready to unplug, relax and enjoy the Modest Pleasures in life!

How to find the best vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your family select the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Private Oceanfront Home! - Ocean View From Anywhere In The Home - Beach Gear - Sleeps 4 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your group.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
