Booking the best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing the perfectvacation home:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Quiet 2BR Golf Villa in Sunset Beach -Located close to Activity Center. (RP2804) has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
