Oak Island vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing and booking the rightvacation home:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Resolute: Spacious Oceanfront Home Close to Pier has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
