Finding the best Wilmington vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Wilmington. Book your Wilmington, NC rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your search:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Savannah Suite on Front has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a particular Wilmington, NC beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
