Tips to get the optimal Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Sunset Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best vacation rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sea Trail Resort--Beach 1 Mile, Ground Level, Linens Provided. No Cleaning Fee has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your group.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC attraction you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
