  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Sound Veiw is a quaint cottage two blocks from the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.

  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.

  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
