How to get the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summertime is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Southern Marsh has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC attraction you long to visit, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
