Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer is high season in Carolina Beach. Booking your Wilmington, NC vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book the rightrental home:

  • Select vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Starfish Retreat Condo Walk to Carolina Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC destination you long to visit, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
