Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Wilmington, NC area. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose the perfectrental home:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Studio Downtown Wilmington has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC beach you simply love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
