Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your group choose date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Summer Sands Dog Daze of Summer Room 306 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
