Tricks and tips to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Oak Island. To get the best value, change your family's Wilmington, NC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental home in Oak Island:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Sun&Fun360 2nd Row East Sunrise Facing Unit B has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Wilmington, NC attraction you are enamored with, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
