How to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in Oak Island. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and choosing a perfect Wilmington, NC rental home:

  • Start by having your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Surfsong: Oceanfront Home in Private Setting on West Beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
