Tips to get the very best Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Wilmington rental home:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Wilmington. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your search:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Swanky Retreat - Downtown has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
