Tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summer months are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Hobbs Realty - \"That's It II\" an amazing oceanfront home with lovely views, pool, and an elevator. has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Wilmington, NC destination you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
