Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summertime is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Finding the perfect rental in Carolina Beach:
- To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Breezes! Oceanview on the Boardwalk. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
