Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is high season in Holden Beach. To find the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. The Captain's Quarters - Oceanfront 2 Bedroom Home has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your trip.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
