Tips to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
