How to book the best Wrightsville Beach vacation home experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wilmington, NC area. To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. The Great Escape - A Waterfront Retreat has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
