Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • To get the best value, shift your family's Wilmington, NC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the best rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Walk to beach! Beach gear - linens - bikes! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
