Listen to the whisper of the wind through the sea grasses and the gentle crashing of the surf from the ocean-facing porch at West Haven. Located on one of the quietest stretches of West Beach, you'll find you're still walking distance of the Blue Water Point Marina and fashionable waterfront dining spot Lonerider's.

On the lower level, you'll find the open concept living space, decorated in calming grays and blues and flooded in natural light. Gather together and settle on the couch, adore seat or one of numerous armchairs to watch the big game. The wooden dining table seats eight comfortably, and a further three seats are available at the adjacent kitchen island.

The kitchen offers plenty of counter space and is completely supplied with all the cookware and appliances you need to prepare the catch of the day or family favorite recipes. Even though there's a dishwasher, you may find yourself washing everything by hand as you daydream to the impressive vistas of the Atlantic from the windows over the sink.

All bedrooms in the home provide a TV for personal entertainment. The mid-level floor features two bedrooms and a shared standard full bathroom with hall access. One bedroom is furnished with a king bed, while the other holds a queen.

On the upper floor, you'll find the final two bedrooms connected by a standard Jack and Jill style bathroom. The first bedroom has two queen beds, and the final bedroom features a single queen bed along with a pair of classic rocking chairs ideally positioned to take in the impressive vistas of the waves and shore.

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Oak Island vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose the best vacation home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. West Haven: Oceanfront Split Level Home on Oak Island's West End has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
