The kitchen offers plenty of counter space and is entirely outfitted with all the cookware and appliances you need to prepare the catch of the day or family favorite recipes. Even though there's a dishwasher, you may find yourself washing everything by hand as you daydream to the striking vistas of the Atlantic from the windows over the sink.

All bedrooms in the home provide a TV for personal entertainment. The mid-level floor features two bedrooms and a shared standard full bathroom with hall access. One bedroom is furnished with a king bed, while the other holds a queen.

On the upper floor, you'll find the final two bedrooms connected by a standard Jack and Jill style bathroom. Getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best rental home:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. West Haven: Oceanfront Split Level Home on Oak Island's West End has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
