Tips and Tricks for getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing and booking the bestrental:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Wonderful Relaxing Affordable Island Get-Away has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
