Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Ocean Isle Beach rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wilmington, NC area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Wilmington, NC vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect rental:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 5 Bedroom, 3 Bath OCEANFRONT Home With Incredible Deck, Sleeps 10-12 has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is right for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
