Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your Wilmington, NC rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. All About The Views: Cozy Home with Canal and Ocean Views, Close to Nature Walk has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
